Save the Date for Alumni Weekend 2024 - Thursday, April 11 through Saturday, April 13, 2024! No matter what events you attend, we hope you will enjoy a weekend full of reminiscing with friends and reconnecting with the law school. Registration will open in late-fall. 

During Alumni Weekend 2024, we will also celebrate milestone reunions for class years ending in 4s and 9s. To make your reunion celebration the best it can be, we need your help to spread the word and to get your classmates excited. Join your class's reunion committee by completing this form.

Law & Health Care Program Stuart Rome Lecture Series: Implementing Justice in Research

The Law & Health Care Program invites you to attend the 2023 Stuart Rome Lecture, which was established at the law school in January 1984 to honor the memory of Stuart Rome, a prominent health law attorney, community activist, and art patron in the Baltimore area. We will be welcoming Leslie E. Wolf, JD, MPH, Distinguished University Professor and Professor of Law at Georgia State University College of Law. Professor Wolf is a leading national scholar in health law, public health and ethics, with a focus on research ethics, and her lecture will be entitled “Implementing Justice in Research.” Please visit this Eventbrite page to register.

Alumni Honors Banquet: A Celebration of Leadership

Every year, Maryland Carey Law recognizes alumni for their leadership, achievements, and impact on Maryland Carey Law and the legal profession. Celebrate our 2023 award recipients at the annual Alumni Honors Banquet. Your ticket includes admission to the event, a seated dinner and open bar, and networking with fellow Maryland Carey Law alumni, faculty and staff.

Decarceration: National Reforms and Law School Clinics

Hosted by the Clinical Law Program and the Journal of Race, Religion, Gender and Class, this symposium will focus on the roles of law school clinics in representing prisoners in release proceedings and reducing prison populations. Can't join us for the whole day? Register for just the keynote session, scheduled for 3:45 p.m. This year's keynote is Reginald Dwayne Betts, founder and director of Freedom Reads. Registration will be available soon.

This event is part of the Clinical Law Program's 50th Anniversary Celebration.

 

Golden Graduates Luncheon: Celebrating the Class of 1973

Maryland Carey Law continues its tradition of celebrating our most experienced alumni – our Golden Graduates – during a special luncheon during Alumni Weekend. Alumni who graduated 50 or more years ago are among this distinguished group.

Enjoy opportunities to reconnect throughout Alumni Weekend as we welcome all class years preceding 1973 to join us in recognizing the Class of 1973 for their Golden Reunion Celebration. This event is only open to alumni who graduated 1973 or earlier.

 

Law School Building Tour

Enjoy a student-led tour of the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law. The building opened in 2002 and features state-of-the-art classrooms, courtrooms, clinical offices, and the Thurgood Marshall Law Library.

 

Women, Leadership, & Equality Program: Celebrating a Century of Women at Maryland Carey Law

A century ago, the law school's Class of 1923 was the first class to graduate women. Since then, we have remained committed to empowering and educating women lawyers. Most recently, a study found that the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law placed historically first nationwide for women's representation among faculty and second for students. Please join the Women, Leadership and Equality (WLE) program for a panel reflecting on and celebrating the achievements of women at Maryland Carey Law.

 

Center for Health and Homeland Security Panel

Join CHHS in celebrating its 20th anniversary. After 20 years, much has changed in the field of public health emergencies, homeland security, cybersecurity, and emergency management. CHHS Founder and Director Michael Greenberger will moderate a lively discussion on these topics and other pressing issues we face in the field today.

Maryland Public Interest Law Project (MPILP) Annual Goods and Services Auction

Join the Maryland Carey Law community for the annual MPILP goods and services options. Bid on an array of auction items while enjoying networking, hors d'oeuvres, and beverages. The evening culminates with celebrating those alumni who have reached a milestone reunion since graduating from law school! This year, we are celebrating milestone reunions for the classes of 1973, 1978, 1983, 1988, 1993, 1998, 2003, 2008, 2013, and 2018. The Reunion Class Dinner includes a seated dinner, dessert, open bar, and a special alumni weekend gift.
