To apply to become a visitor at Maryland Carey Law, please complete the following application:

Eligibility
Students in good standing at another ABA-accredited law school who wish to attend classes at Maryland Carey Law with the intention of applying those credits towards degree requirements at their home law school may apply as visiting applicants. Visiting applicants must submit a letter from the dean of their home law school stating that the credits they earned at Maryland Carey Law will be accepted towards degree requirements at their home law school and if applicable, any other conditions.

In addition, visitor application is available to LLM graduates (from Maryland Carey Law or other US law schools) who may need to take a course or courses in order to complete bar exam requirements.

Visitor Application Checklist
A completed application file for a visitor applicant consists of the following:

  1. Application for visitor admission: If there are openings in the course(s) of interest to you, submit the Visitor Application directly to the Office of Admissions by email to admissions@law.umaryland.edu.
  2. CAS report: Maryland Carey Law will request the applicant's original CAS report, including all undergraduate and graduate transcripts, from LSAC.
  3. Official law school transcript: Sent directly from the registrar's office at the applicant's current law school to the Office of Admissions at Maryland Carey Law. Transcripts may be sent by email to admissions@law.umaryland.edu or mail to 500 West Baltimore Street, Suite 130, Baltimore, MD 21201.
  4. Statement of good standing, class rank, and agreement to accept credits earned at Maryland Carey Law from applicant's current law school: Sent directly from the registrar's office or dean at the applicant's current law school to the Office of Admissions at Maryland Carey Law. Statement(s) may be sent by email to admissions@law.umaryland.edu or mail to 500 West Baltimore Street, Suite 130, Baltimore, MD 21201.
  5. Two letters of recommendation from current law school professors: Sent directly from the recommenders at the applicant's current law school to the Office of Admissions at Maryland Carey Law. The letters should be from professors at the applicant's current law school who have instructed them and have evaluated their work. Letters may be sent by email to admissions@law.umaryland.edu or mail to 500 West Baltimore Street, Suite 130, Baltimore, MD 21201.
  6. Statement of interest: Submit a brief statement by email to admissions@law.umaryland.edu explaining why you are interested in taking a course at Maryland Carey Law.
  7. Résumé: Submit a complete résumé or curriculum vitae by email to admissions@law.umaryland.edu detailing your education, employment, skills, honors, awards and accomplishments.
  8. Application for in-state classification (Maryland residents only): The Office of the Registrar for the University of Maryland, Baltimore makes residency determinations. Applicants claiming Maryland residency must complete an Application for In-State Classification, and submit the application to the University’s Office of the Registrar. All applicants are considered non-residents for tuition purposes until the Application for In-State Classification has been submitted and approved. For more information about the in-state classification process and criteria, please visit the Office of the Registrar website.

Print, sign, and date your application form. Submit your application and additional required materials to the Office of Admissions by email to admissions@law.umaryland.edu.
