The University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law is honored to announce the election of seven distinguished new members to the Board of Visitors, and the promotion of Alicia L. Wilson ‘07 as the newest chair. The board also promoted Jason M. St. John ’00 and elected David S. Cade ’85 to join Wilson on the executive committee, serving as vice chair and secretary, respectively.

The volunteer members of the Board of Visitors bring a deep professional and philanthropic dedication to Maryland Carey Law, serving as trusted advisors and engaged partners in advancing the school’s priorities across key areas, including advancement, alumni engagement, career development, student wellness, and admissions.
Wilson steps into the role of board chair following the outstanding leadership of Tamika L. Tremaglio ’95 who has served as board chair since 2023. Wilson, who has served on the board since 2018, is the vice president for civic engagement and opportunity at Johns Hopkins University, where she leads and coordinates a broad range of strategic initiatives aimed at fostering community partnerships, economic growth, and civic engagement in Baltimore and beyond.
Expressing her support for her successor, Tremaglio said, “from her days as a student to her service on this board, Alicia has been an exceptional and engaged ambassador for Maryland Carey Law.” She added, “Alicia is a transformative servant leader, and I’m excited for everything she’s going to bring to her term as chair.”

As its final item of membership business, the board unanimously approved the executive committee’s recommendation of emeritus membership status for long-term members Darrell N. Braman '88, the Honorable Michele Harner, Richard Gordon '89, and Benjamin S. Salsbury ’07. The board additionally expressed gratitude to Ranjit S. Dhindsa '95, James R. Benjamin, Jr. '01, and Caroline G. Harris '79 for their commitment as their board terms came to a close.
In a special moment at the conclusion of the spring meeting, Dean Renée Laurent celebrated Tremaglio's three years of extraordinary service as the chair of the board, and announced the establishment of a new philanthropic fund, the Tamika Tremaglio ’95 Student Wellness Fund. Reflecting Tremaglio’s servant leadership and deep commitment to student wellness, in particular, the fund was established to provide financial support for student wellness and for the ongoing work of the law school’s Wellness Committee. The Tamika Tremaglio ’95 Student Wellness Fund was established thanks to a generous lead gift by none other than Wilson. Many board members and alumni followed her lead by making gifts in support of the fund.
In the spring, the law school and the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) further recognized Tremaglio with a 2026 Catalyst for Excellence Award.
Looking at the year ahead, Wilson shared that the “passion and collective expertise and wisdom of this board is remarkable,” adding that she is “humbled to step into the role of board chair, and committed to carrying forward the incredible energy and enthusiasm that Tamika set for the board.”
