Matt DuMont is an assistant state’s attorney for Baltimore City. He serves in the Post-Conviction Litigation Unit, representing the citizens of Baltimore and the State of Maryland in post-conviction and collateral matters at the state trial and appellate levels. Before joining the Office of the State’s Attorney, he served as a judicial clerk to the Honorable Michele D. Hotten, associate justice of the Supreme Court of Maryland. During law school, he served as a judicial intern for both the Honorable Jonathan Biran, associate justice of the Supreme Court of Maryland, and Lydia K. Griggsby, District Court judge of the United States District Court for the District of Maryland. He also law clerked for the Attorney General’s Office in the Criminal Appeals Division. He graduated cum laude from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, where he received the William P. Cunningham award, and served as the managing editor of the Journal of Health Care Law & Policy, and as an Academic Achievement Fellow. Before pursuing law, he earned his undergraduate degree in Theater Performance from Marymount Manhattan College and was a professional actor for a decade before becoming an LSAT tutor and teacher.
