Joe Beavers is a Principal at Miles & Stockbridge in Baltimore, MD. He has more than two decades of experience as an insurance coverage litigator. He advises clients on, and litigates claims involving, virtually all lines of coverage, including directors and officers (D&)), errors and omissions (E&O), commercial general liability (CGL), property and business interruption, representations and warranties, cyber, and crime. He also advises policyholders on obtaining and managing insurance assets.

Among his recent notable insurance coverage matters, Mr. Beavers has handled claims and secured recoveries involving COVID-19 event cancellations, an international supply chain disruption, and social engineering wire fraud. Mr. Beavers was recognized as an industry leader for insurance in Maryland in the 2021 edition of Chambers and Partners USA, which noted a client’s description of Mr. Beavers as “an expert on policyholder matters.”

In his environmental practice, Mr. Beavers represents corporate clients in CERCLA and private-party cost recovery litigation. He has extensive trial experience and has negotiated complex settlements and work plans with the U.S. EPA, the U.S. Department of Justice, and multiple state regulatory bodies. He has worked with clients on cases involving a wide variety of contaminants, including PFAS, PCBs, dioxins, and perchlorate. In addition to his law degree from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, Joe holds a master's degree in Public Management with a specialization in Environmental Policy.

Mr. Beavers also maintains an active commercial litigation caseload, representing clients at the trial and appellate level in a variety of corporate and consumer disputes, including class actions and multi-district litigation.
