Lindsey S. Cooper

Bio
Lindsey Cooper (Class of 2028) is currently pursuing both a Health Law Certificate and the Intellectual Property Law Track at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law. Lindsey is a recipient of the Legal Excellence and Promise (LEAP) Scholarship at Maryland Carey Law and is an active member of the Maryland IP Student Association (MIPSA), the Student Health Law Organization (SHLO), and the Maryland chapter of the Jewish Law Students Association (JLSA).
Originally from southeast Michigan, Lindsey holds a Bachelor of Science with Distinction in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Indiana University. Beginning in her first year at Indiana, Lindsey participated in two biochemical research labs, studying thiophenesulfonamide inhibition of VcpR expression and nonulosonic acid synthesis from hyperthermophilic aldolase enzymes. In addition to her academic background, Lindsey’s personal history drives her passion for the field—she grew up as a direct beneficiary of advancements in medical technologies, pharmaceutical innovations, and biochemical research. Tying together her earnestness for scientific advancements and her experience as a researcher herself, Lindsey is dedicated to balancing the protection of ideas with the public’s need for inventive thinking.
Outside of her professional and academic pursuits, Lindsey enjoys figure skating, cooking and food tourism, and volunteering. Lindsey served on the executive board of Challah for Hungry Hoosiers, a volunteer organization dedicated to fighting food insecurity through baking, throughout her undergraduate experience, culminating in her Presidency during her final year at IU. She looks forward to finding ways to build upon these interests in law school and as an attorney.
