Despite a pandemic during their first year, they have refined their critical thinking abilities, allowing them to approach challenges with a refreshing dose of innovation. With their diverse experiences, enthusiasm, and dedication, they are poised to shape the future of the legal landscape.

The Business Law Program has developed a reputation of excellence, fostering innovative teaching methodologies, providing practical experience, encouraging scholarly pursuits, and promoting intellectual curiosity. With an unwavering commitment to its mission, the program has diligently prepared students for successful careers by emphasizing three fundamental aspects of their training: academic excellence, experiential learning, and professional development.

The Business Law Track graduates are prepared to make an immediate impact as they enter the legal profession. Several graduates have been selected for prestigious clerkships within the Circuit and District Courts of Maryland, where they will have the invaluable opportunity to work closely with esteemed judges and gain firsthand experience in the judicial system. Others have been selected to join prominent law firms and corporations in Maryland and beyond. Graduates have joined respected organizations such as T Rowe Price, Nelson Mullins, Knollwood Investment Advisory LLC, Bagley & Rhody, P.C., Young Conaway Stargatt and Taylor, Jetlaw, Shulman Rogers, Liff, Walsh & Simmons, LLC, and Buechler Law Office, LLC. These positions offer diverse avenues for graduates to continue to develop their legal expertise while engaging in complex business law matters.

The accomplishments of these graduates extend beyond their professional placements. Many have made an indelible mark on the Maryland Carey Law community during their studies. Some served as editors and authors for the Journal of Business & Technology Law, demonstrating their dedication to scholarly pursuits and their commitment to advancing legal knowledge in the field of business and technology.  Others honed their advocacy skills through participation in National Moot Court Team and the Duberstein Bankruptcy Moot Court team demonstrating their ability to analyze legal issues, construct persuasive arguments, and present with poise and professionalism. Others still perfected their negotiation and drafting skills in the National Duke Transactional Law competition. At the same time, some actively engaged in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) competitions, fostered a community of like-minded peers in the Business Law Society, and mentored peers in their roles as peer advisors.

As these graduates embark on their respective paths, they carry with them the invaluable experiences, skills, and connections fostered during their time at the University of Maryland Carey Law. Their dedication, passion, and exceptional qualifications will undoubtedly contribute to their continued growth and make a lasting impact.
