Maryland Legislative Externship Workshop

Course Description

This Workshop is designed for students who are planning to work on legislative matters in Maryland during the Spring Maryland General Assembly session as an externship. This Workshop is available only to students enrolled in the Maryland Legislative Externship. The one-credit class will meet weekly during the semester. The course will cover legislative process in Maryland, legislative advocacy, bill drafting and editing, testimony drafting, legislative history and analysis and other areas important to a successful legislative practice in Maryland. Students will perform bill-drafting exercises, participate in mock hearings and prepare reflective memoranda about the topics covered. Grading is on the A - F scale.
