Jackson Petrella

Bio

Jackson Petrella is a 3L (Class of 2026) at Maryland Carey Law and a first-generation law student pursuing dual concentrations in Business Law and Health Law. He graduated from Boston College in 2022 with a B.A. in Political Science and concentrations in Finance and History.

Jackson serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Health Care Law & Policy, Volume 29. He is also a Senior Legal Writing Fellow in the Legal Writing Center, mentoring first-year and upper-level students on legal analysis, writing, and research. He was the co-winner of the law school’s Fall 2024 Moot Court Competition, receiving the “Best Brief” Award.

Jackson has gained substantial judicial experience at both the trial and appellate levels. He served as a judicial intern to Judge Julie R. Rubin at the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. Most recently, he worked in the Clerk’s Office of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, where he supported the court’s attorneys through appellate screening, procedural analysis, and internal research. After graduation, Jackson will clerk for the Massachusetts Appeals Court for the 2026–2027 term.

Beyond his academic and professional work, Jackson remains active in the law school community through the Business Law Society, Health Law Organization, and OutLaw (LGBTQ+) Society.
