What did you enjoy about your clinic experience?It is difficult to point to one thing that I enjoyed most, but if forced to choose, I would say that it was getting to be a "real lawyer." It was very satisfying and exciting to put what we had learned academically into real practice.Was there a particularly memorable moment from your clinic experience that you'd like to share?I did two clinic experiences, the appellate and postconviction clinic and the access to justice (right to pretrial release) clinic. With regards to the former, arguing my case before the Maryland Court of Special Appeals was a particularly memorable experience for me. I was terrified, but managed to do it, and, incidentally, that experience colored the entirety of my career as I decided then that I wanted to be an appellate practitioner, a goal which I ultimately achieved. With regards to the latter clinic experience, driving around Baltimore looking for and interviewing witnesses was a particularly memorable experience as well.What was your greatest takeaway from your clinic experience?That I had what it took to be an actual attorney someday.How has your clinic experience benefitted you in your career and approach to lawyering?Honestly, it greatly shaped my career. But for the clinics I participated in, I would not have chosen the career path that I did.
