Course Description

This class is an inter-disciplinary course designed to expose students to climate change causes and impacts, emphasizing impacts on human health and society in Maryland and Baltimore, including analysis and discussions on health equity, environmental laws, and governmental policies. The course will explore the science of climate change, health and social impacts of climate change, and governing law and policy addressing climate change. Faculty from the Schools of Law, Medicine, Nursing, Social Work, and the Marine-Estuarine Environmental Sciences in College Park will be providing lectures on the social, economic and health impacts of climate change as well as the scientific understanding of climate change, adaptation, and mitigation measures. Students will work in inter-disciplinary teams to develop projects that address climate change-driven environmental, social, economic and health challenges. Law students will be introduced to working with experts in other, non-legal fields, similar to how lawyers must work with experts in the practice of law.
