Maryland ACLU Honors Professor Emeritus C. Christopher Brown

 C. Christopher Brown, a member of the Maryland Carey Law faculty from 1975–2005, will receive the 2012 Gilman Award, one of the most distinguished honors from the Maryland chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union, at a celebratory dinner,  October 4.

Brown, a partner at Brown Goldstein Levy, in Baltimore, will be honored for his “tireless dedication to civil rights,” including arguing three cases before the Supreme Court and litigating a series of Voting Rights lawsuits which brought the first African-American officeholders to many town and county councils in Maryland.\

Brown’s work has been recognized by numerous professional organizations; most recently he was honored with the first Dickens Warfield Fair Housing Award from Baltimore Neighborhoods, Inc. for his years of support in advancing its fair housing litigation.
