Top Winner Paul Tiburzi '80 among eight School of Law alumni honored with Daily Record Leadership in Law Award

Paul Tiburzi '80, managing partner of the Baltimore office of DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary, has been named recipient of the 2005 Daily Record Leadership in Law top award, highlighting a slate of eight University of Maryland School of Law alumni among the 24 Marylanders honored this year for their significant and consistent contributions to the legal profession. One School of Law adjunct professor was honored as well.

Representatives from Maryland's business, legal and higher education community reviewed nominees from across the state for the awards, now in their fifth year, selecting individuals notable for their commitment to bettering the legal profession, as well as the communities in which they live and work. Emphasis also was placed on how each nominee has striven, through mentoring efforts, to help foster strong future generations of professional and community leaders.

"We are extremely proud to have so many of our alumni and friends recognized for their enduring contributions to the state of Maryland and the legal profession," said Karen Rothenberg, Dean of the School of Law. "That our graduates comprise a third of all those recognized with this year's Leadership in Law award is a testament to the School's historic commitment to educating future leaders."
