Courting Justice: The Enduring Legacy of Thurgood Marshall & Charles Hamilton Houston

UM Carey Law professor Larry Gibson and Jose Felipe Anderson '84, professor at University of Baltimore School of Law, share perspectives on the early life of Justice Marshall, one of the most important jurists of the twentieth century, and his mentor, brilliant legal strategist Charles Hamilton Houston.

Tuesday, April 10
5 pm
UM Carey Law
Ceremonial Court Room

Both presenters are authors of forthcoming books on their subjects.

Gibson's Young Thurgood: The Making of a Supreme Court Justice, due out in May, is the only biography of the late justice to be endorsed by his immediate family.

With a forward by Charles Hamilton Houston, Jr., Anderson's Genius for Justice: Charles Hamilton Houston and the Reform of American Law is a deeply personal look at the Supreme Court lawyer who represented the NAACP and killed "Jim Crow."

Dean Phoebe Haddon moderates the discussion, part of UM Carey Law's Diversity Week series of events.

The event is free and open to the public.  A reception will follow.  Sponsored by UM Carey Law Student Bar Association.
