After a resounding victory at the Student Trial Advocacy Competition (STAC)'s regional tournament in Washington, DC, UM Carey Law's National Trial Team will advance to the national championship against 15 other regional finalists.
Â Under the guidance of head coach A. J. Bellido de Luna, Clinical Instructor and Managing Director of the Clinical Law Program, two teams competed for UM Carey Law. The first team consisted of 3L Lindsey Cook, 3L Lindsey Lanzendorfer, 2L Wayne Heavener, and 2L Marshall Jackson; and the second team consisted of:3L Daniel Mendelsohn, 3L Jennifer Ruiz, 2L Glenn Gordon, and 2L Matthew Wood. The second team was undefeated in their preliminary rounds but missed advancing to the finals by a mere one point. The first team, however, lost only one out of 15 ballots cast in five rounds of victories over the University of Baltimore, American University, and Catholic University of America (preliminary rounds); Georgetown University Law Center (semifinals); and George Washington University (finals).
Ms. Cook, Ms. Lanzendorfer, Mr. Heavener, and Mr. Jackson will compete against 16 other teams from around the country in Las Vegas March 22-25.
