Prof. Greenberger Testifies on Capitol Hill on Dodd-Frank Act

On March 3, Professor Michael Greenberger testified before the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry at a hearing on that Committee's first hearing in this Congress on implementation of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. This committee was principally responsible for that portion of Dodd-Frank that establishes an entirely new regulatory format for the multi-trillion dollar over-the-counter derivatives market.

Professor Greenberger teaches a class entitled "Futures, Options and Derivatives" at the School of Law, and he is the Founder and Director of the University of Maryland Center for Health and Homeland Security. In 1997, Professor Greenberger left private practice to become the Director of the Division of Trading and Markets at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). He also served on the Steering Committee of the Presidentís Working Group on Financial Markets, and as a member of the International Organization of Securities Commissionsí Hedge Fund Task Force. Professor Greenberger has recently served as the Technical Advisor to the United Nations Commission of Experts on Reforms of the International Monetary and Financial System and the International Energy Forumís Independent Expert Group on Reducing World-wide Energy Price Volatility. He testified often before committees in both Houses of Congress in the run-up to the passage of the Dodd-Frank Act.
