Slate Editor Bazelon, Prof. Ifill to Discuss New Supreme Court
Senior editor of
Slate Emily Bazelon, a Senior Research Scholar in Law at Yale Law School, will join Professor
Sherrilyn Ifill for the discussion "Reflections on the New Supreme Court" at 5 p.m. Wednesday, September 29.
The discussion will take place in the Ceremonial Court Room, and a reception in the atrium will follow.
At Slate, Bazelon writes and edits about law and is co-editor of DoubleX, the magazine's section for women. She is also a contributing writer at the
New York Times Magazine; before joining Slate, she was a senior editor of
Legal Affairs. Bazelon is a graduate of both Yale College and Yale Law School where she was an editor on
The Yale Law Journal.
Professor Ifill is a nationally recognized expert in the importance of judicial diversity and impartiality in judicial decision-making. She is currently writing a book about race and the Supreme Court confirmation process. In her research, she has been reading every confirmation hearing since 1955, the year after
Brown vs. Board of Education was decided.
