Join the University of Maryland School of Law chapter of the
Christian Legal Society for a screening of the 30-minute documentary, "
At the End of Slavery: The Battle of Justice in Our Time" on Thursday, April 1 at 4 p.m. in Room 107. Following the film, a panel discussion will be held to explore the reality of present-day slavery as well as possible steps that can be taken to help eradicate its existence around the world.
Shot on location in the United States, Philippines, and Cambodia, "
At the End of Slavery: The Battle of Justice in Our Time" takes viewers to the frontlines of today’s battle for justice with true stories of former slaves and undercover footage from police operations to rescue children from brothels. The film, narrated by actor Danny Glover, has been viewed by more than 40,000 to date, and demonstrates a real possibility to end the trade, with the law enforcement’s success in finding and rescuing victims as well as prosecuting perpetrators.
The event will be co-sponsored by the
American Constitutional Society, the
Asian Pacific American Law Student Association,
Phi Delta Phi, the
University of Maryland Law Democrats, and the
Women's Bar Association.
