Law School to Celebrate Dean Haddon's Appointment on Oct. 3

Phoebe A. Haddon, Dean and Professor Law Dean Phoebe A. Haddon will deliver her first address as Dean of the University of Maryland School of Law at the Oct. 3 event celebrating her appointment, “Justice & the Global Economy.” Ambassador Ron Kirk, 16th U.S. Trade Representative, will deliver the keynote address, "The Trade Agenda: Overcoming Challenges, Creating Opportunity." Remarks will be made by Congressman Elijah Cummings '76.

Due to overwhelming interest from the Law School's graduates and friends, no seats remain for the Program. However, you can still register to attend the reception that will follow at the School of Law where you can greet Dean Haddon in person. Video of the Program will be available at this site early in the week of October 5.

Ambassador Ron Kirk

As United States Trade Representative, Ambassador Kirk is a member of President Obama’s Cabinet and serves as the President’s principal advisor, negotiator and spokesperson on trade issues. A former mayor of Dallas, Ambassador Kirk brings more than 25 years of experience and a global perspective to bear and pressing societal issues.

Formerly a distinguished faculty member at the Temple University Beasley School of Law, Dean Haddon began her tenure as the ninth Dean in the University of Maryland School of Law’s 185-year history in July 2009. Dean Haddon is a nationally recognized authority on critical issues shaping legal education and the profession, and an expert on jury participation, the courts and diversity.

Limited on-street parking is available, or you may pay to park at either the Grand Garage (9 N. Paca St.), adjacent to the Law School, or at Pratt Street Garage (646 W. Pratt St.), adjacent to the SMC Campus Center.

Admission to the reception is free, but registration is required. Register online or by calling 410-706-2070.
