U.S. Congressman Elijah Cummings, a 1976 graduate of the School of Law, delivered the keynote address at the Law School's Hooding Ceremony on May 15, and Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley, a 1988 Maryland Law graduate, spoke at the University of Maryland, Baltimore Commencement ceremony, capping a weekend of celebration.

"Maryland needs your talent and leadership," said Gov. O'Malley, who expressed his pride in being a graduate of the School of Law. "We need your leadership plus the four 'Ss words: skills, security, sustainability, and human spirit. What makes our nation wealthy is not our material things but our moral values. It's about our ideas and ideals and leadership of the human spirit."
