Earlier this year, the University of Maryland School of Law partnered with Sig Libowitz '07, an experienced writer, actors, and film production executive, to create "The Response," a 30-minute courtroom drama that takes viewers inside the U.S. military tribunals in Guantanamo, Cuba.

Learn more about "The Response," and read media accounts of its filming.

The School of Law will hold the first Baltimore screening of The Response on Oct. 22 at 6:30 p.m. in the law school’s Ceremonial Courtroom. Following the film, there will be a panel discussion featuring:

Devon Chaffee
Advocacy Counsel
Human Rights First

Michael Greenberger

University of Maryland Center for Health and Homeland Security

Sig Libowitz ’07
Writer and Producer, "The Response"

Peter Riegert
Actor, "The Response"

Tom Wilner
Partner, Shearman & Sterling

A reception in the Atrium will follow the discussion. All the seats for the free screening and panel in the Ceremonial Courtroom have been reserved. However, overflow viewing via closed circuit is available. To sign up for the overflow room and secure placement on the standby list for the Courtroom, call 410-706-2070.

"The Response" and the screening and discussion are funded in part by a generous grant from the France-Merrick Foundation to the University of Maryland School of Law’s Linking Law & the Arts series.
