Craig Thompson '95 to Speak at Annual BLSA Banquet on Feb. 23
Craig A. Thompson ’95, a former President of BLSA and receipient of last year’s BLSA Alumnus of the Year Award, will be the keynote speaker at the Black Law Student Association’s 33rd annual Scholarship and Awards Banquet. This year’s banquet, dedicated to the theme "Redefining Our Purpose," will begin at 7 p.m. on Feb. 23 at the Radisson Lord Baltimore Hotel.
A partner at Venable, LLP, Thompson is also president of Thompson Communications, an educational consulting firm, and the host of "The Front Page," a weekly radio talk show.
The University of Maryland chapter of the BLSA, one of the first and one of the largest in the nation, is active in recruiting and assisting African-American and other minority law students with their studies while in law school and preparing them for admission to and practice in the bar. The Maryland chapter is a vital, integral part of the local community and bar, sponsoring and/or participating in many community-oriented activities such as the BLSA-Booker T. Washington Middle School Tutorial Program, career day lectures on law as a career for young people, providing holiday baskets of food for needy members of the community and conducting clothing drives for women and children at local shelters for battered women.Register online
