Alison Asti ’79 Sworn In as MSBA President
School of Law alumna Alison L. Asti was sworn in as President of the Maryland State Bar Association this week at the MSBA’s annual meeting in Ocean City, MD. She replaced a fellow Maryland graduate, outgoing President Edward Gills ’80.
"I have always felt a commitment to MSBA and its leadership because this is where I get the greatest satisfaction – helping others beyond my own little world," Ms. Asti said on the MSBA’s website. "One of the greatest satisfactions of being a professional in any area, including the law, is doing something for the greater good, something that goes beyond your existence in your own personal job."
Ms. Asti has been a Bar Association leader for many years, serving in many positions including as a member of the American Bar Association House of Delegates, executive council member of the National Conference of Bar Presidents, an American Bar Foundation Fellow, as Metropolitan Bar Caucus President, and as a member of the Maryland State Bar Association Board of Governors. She was recently named one of the "50 Most Influential Marylanders" by the Daily Record newspaper, and was named one of "Maryland’s Legal Elite" by Baltimore Smart CEO in 2006.
Currently working as Executive Director of the Maryland Stadium Authority, Ms. Asti has worked with the Stadium Authority for 17 years, serving as General Counsel and Director of Development. Prior to joining the Stadium Authority, Ms. Asti was a partner in the law firm of Gordon, Feinblatt, Rothman, Hoffberger & Hollander, LLC. She serves on the School of Law’s Board of Visitors, and is a past president of the Maryland Bar Foundation, Bar Association of Baltimore City, and Baltimore City Bar Foundation.
