MPILP To Celebrate 20th Anniversary at Annual Goods and Services Auction on March 10
The Maryland Public Interest Law Project (MPILP) will honor founders Professor Michael Millemann and Nevett Steele, Esq., Executive Director of Civil Justice, Inc., as it celebrate its 20th Anniversary at the Annual Goods and Services Auction on March 10 at 6 p.m.
"We’re going to honor our two founders, Nevett Steele and Michael Millemann," said third-year student and MPILP co-president Jennifer Deines in a recent Daily Record
article. "We’re going to celebrate their contribution to legal services and for inspiring law students to pursue legal services careers." The impact of both founders will be recognized during a champagne reception before the Auction.
The Auction is held every year to raise money for students who wish to work at public interest firms during the summer. Last year, MPILP raised over $40,000 at the auction and awarded grants to 27 students. This year, MPILP would like to increase their grant awards to 40. The silent auction will begin at 6 p.m., with the live auction to follow. So far, items donated to the auction include weekends at two beach houses, sporting event tickets, restaurants, dinners with professors and alumni (including a barbecue for 15 at Professor Michael Millemann’s home) and a ghost tour of Westminster Hall.
