The National Trial Team placed second in the Buffalo-Niagara Mock Trial Competition, an invitation-only tournament. Hosted by SUNY Buffalo Law School, it is the largest fall competition, with 36 of the nation’s top law school trial teams competing.
Maryland Carey Law’s team of 3Ls Diana Griffin, Sean Harding, James Sheehan, and Emmit Kellar, coached by Ben Salsbury ‘07 and Lindsey Cook ‘12, performed eight mock trials over the course of four days, lasting on average 3.5 hours each.
This year’s trial “problem” was a case a murder twist with a host of other possible suspects. All of the rounds were held in the Buffalo-Niagara City Court. Four preliminary rounds determined the top 20 teams and were then cut down to the great 8, Final Four and Final round.
