Maryland Carey Law Announces Faculty Promotions and Appointments

Deborah Thompson Eisenberg, Professor of Law (with tenure), Director, Center for Dispute Resolution
BA, summa cum laude, University of Maryland, Baltimore County
JD, Yale Law School

Professor Eisenberg writes and teaches in the areas of employment law, dispute resolution, and civil procedure.  She also provides professional trainings and workshops on negotiation, mediation, and workplace dispute resolution and serves as a mediator in civil and employment cases. [Read More]


Leslie Meltzer Henry, Professor of Law (with tenure)
BA, University of Virginia
MSc, Oxford University
JD, Yale Law School

Professor Henry joined the law school faculty in 2008 and is a core faculty member at the Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics. The focus of her teaching and scholarship includes constitutional law, bioethics, public health law and policy, reproductive justice, and research ethics. [Read More]


Lee Kovarsky, Professor of Law (with tenure)

JD, University of Virginia

Professor Kovarsky joined the School of Law in 2011. The focus of his teaching and scholarship includes conflicts of law, criminal procedure, federal jurisdiction, habeas corpus, civil procedure, constitutional law, and the death penalty. He co-wrote, with Brandon L. Garrett, the Foundation Press Case Book on Habeas Corpus (2013), and has published extensively on issues of executive detention and post-conviction review. [Read More]


Amanda Pustilnik, Professor of Law (with tenure)

Professor Pustilnik teaches criminal law, evidence, and law & neuroscience. Her current research includes work on models of mind in criminal law, evidentiary issues presented by neuroscientific work on memory, and the role of pain in different legal domains. [Read More]


Andrew Blair-Stanek, Associate Professor of Law (tenure track)

JD, Yale Law School

Professor Blair-Stanek’s research and teaching interest is tax law.  He draws from non-tax scholarship and case law to improve and to better understand tax law. Prior to joining the Maryland Carey Law faculty, Professor Blair-Stanek practiced tax law at McDermott, Will & Emery, LLP in Washington, DC. [Read More]

 

Michael Pappas, Associate Professor of Law (tenure track)
BA and MA, Stanford University
JD, with distinction, Stanford University

Professor Pappas teaches in the areas of property and environmental law. His scholarship explores the nature of property expectations, governmental responsibilities, and private rights in managing resources such as land, energy, water, wildlife, fisheries, and food. Professor Pappas has also worked extensively to advance interdisciplinary teaching and research collaborations throughout the University System of Maryland, and he was voted Outstanding Faculty Member of the Year in 2014. Mark Graber, Jacob A. France Professor of Constitutionalism

MA and PhD, Yale University
JD, Columbia University Law School

Professor Graber was appointed Jacob A. France Professor of Constitutionalism on May 1, 2015. He served as associate dean for research and faculty development from 2010-2013 and as a professor of law and government from 2004 to 2015. He is the author of A New Introduction to American Constitutionalism (2013) and several other books on the US Constitution, all from Oxford University Press.[Read More]
