Abe Dash had the remarkable ability to turn the Legal Profession course – what many students regarded as a burdensome and boring graduation requirement – into an interesting and useful addition to their legal educations. His commitment to that course and his irrepressible teaching style justifiably made him one of the most popular teachers at Maryland. He was also recognized throughout the state as an expert on the standards of professional practice, often serving as a consultant, lecturer and expert on such issues.
But for many of us, Abe was not just a superb teacher with a special commitment to matters of professionalism, he was also a colleague and friend. The many tributes of faculty and students, past and present suggest the importance of marking his passing in some appropriate way.
A gift in Abe’s memory to provide support for professionalism initiatives at the law school would be a fitting tribute to our professor, friend and colleague. An added bonus is that any such gifts will be matched by the generosity of the Moser Philanthropic Fund.
Please join us in remembering Abe in so fitting and tangible an expression of our esteem and affection.
