Chief Judge Barbera 84 to Speak with New Students

UM Carey Law welcomes new students on Monday, August 19, as they begin their law school journey.

Here is a preview of what is in store, for new faces and old:

Orientation for First Year, LLM, Transfer, and Exchange Students:
August 19-20

Orientation includes welcoming remarks from The Honorable Mary Ellen Barbera ’84, newly appointed Chief Judge of the Maryland Court of Appeals, the state’s highest court;  Jay Perman, MD, president of the University of Maryland, Baltimore; Maryland Carey Law Dean Phoebe Haddon; and Student Bar Association President Doug Parvis. 

Also on tap—sessions on:

  • “How to Read a Case” and “What Happens in Class”, with Professors ReynoldsBoldt, Citron, Gray, and Millemann
  • Becoming a professional – inside and outside the building
  • Academic integrity
  • Academic resources
  • University resources

A Student Organization Fair, featuring dozens of groups, rounds out the event.
