Prepare for orientation
Orientation plans for incoming JD, LLM, transfer, and visiting students are currently being finalized. On Friday, August 14, we will host a welcome event live online for all new students. Orientation will take place the next week–Monday, August 17 to Friday, August 21.
Orientation programming will primarily include pre-recorded presentations and live online sessions with faculty, staff, current students, and alumni. Pre-recorded presentations will be available beginning the first week of August on the orientation Blackboard page. First-year JD students will be asked to view specific videos prior to the week beginning August 17.
Students in their first year are assigned to sections (typically in late July/early August) when they are registered for classes. Each section (with the exception of the section that will meet exclusively online) will be assigned to visit the law school on one of the days of orientation week (Aug. 17-21) for an in-person class with a faculty member.
Transfer and visiting students will have an online orientation session on a date to be determined in mid-August. Incoming LLM students will receive orientation instructions from Assistant Dean Crystal Edwards in late July. Times and dates of all in-person and live online sessions are still being determined. You will receive more detailed information about orientation in late July.
Regular Fall Class Schedule
The fall semester class schedule for all students (new and returning) will begin on Monday, August 24. As mentioned above, first-year JD students will be divided into sections in late July or early August. At that time, you will receive your section assignment and class schedule from our Director of Law Registration, Steven Boggs. Your section assignment determines your class schedule. By early August, the first-year JD semester schedule will be available here under Classes & Orientation Schedules. Incoming LLM students will receive their class schedules from Assistant Dean Crystal Edwards.
