Our Mission

To train the next generation of women leaders in law—in Maryland and beyond.

Innovative Curriculum

  • A research and theory seminar focusing on the empirical studies documenting the structural barriers to women ascending to positions of leadership.
  • An applied workshop taught by nationally known experts in personal negotiation, communication, strategic career planning, business development and fundraising, organizational behavior and dynamics, and leadership development.
  • An optional externship/practicum offering students the opportunity to work with state, local and national organizations dedicated to serving women in need and shaping policy.

Scholarship

  • More than sixteen symposia and panel discussions held, including "Title IX: Women, Athletics and the Law," "The Sway of the Swing Vote: Justice Sandra Day O'Connor," "Women and the 'New' Corporate Governance," and "The Case Against Human Trafficking: What Everyone Should Know."
  • More than thirty-five symposia, faculty, and student articles published on gender-related topics, including Professor Monopoli's articles, Gender and Constitutional Design, 115 YALE LAW JOURNAL 2643 (2006) and Marriage, Property & [In] Equality, 119 YALE LAW JOURNAL ONLINE 61 (2009).

Experiential Learning

  • More than a dozen local, state, and national organizations providing direct legal services to women in need and developing policy initiatives have accepted Rose Zetzer Fellows as externs, including the House of Ruth, The Women's Law Center of Maryland and the National Women's Law Center.
