Torts

Torts is the study of civil wrongs, i.e., liability for harm caused by wrongful acts that violate non-contractual duties imposed by law. The course examines private remedies for civil wrongs. It covers various theories of liability, including negligence, intentional torts, and strict liability, and the policies and principles that underlie those theories. The course also covers third party liability, privileges, and damages. This course, therefore, provides a foundation for other parts of the curriculum, for example, Environmental Law, Law and Medicine, Economic Analysis of Law, and Insurance Law.
