This course is an introduction to the legal and policy issues raised by computers and the Internet. The course will consider how legal doctrine changes (or sometimes, stays the same) as more and more aspects of daily life move online. Topics include jurisdiction, free speech, privacy, online crime, e-commerce, trademarks, and copyright. No background in computers is needed; the relevant history and technology will be taught in class.
