Aadhithi Padmanabhan will join the University of Maryland Carey School of Law in the 2022–2023 academic year to launch and direct the Federal Appellate Immigration Clinic. Padmanabhan is a Supervising Attorney at The Legal Aid Society in New York City, where she represents clients on a variety of immigration-related matters before administrative agencies and federal courts. She was previously a Skadden Fellow and then a staff attorney at the New York Civil Liberties Union. Padmanabhan’s research involves deportation and detention, with a focus on the ways in which administrative law principles are developed, modified, and applied in the immigration context.
Padmanabhan received her J.D. from Yale Law School, where she was awarded the Charles G. Albom Prize for Excellence in Appellate Advocacy in Connection with a Clinical Program. She graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Harvard College.
