Professor Pfeffer-Gillett joined the University of Maryland Carey School of Law in Fall 2021 to teach in the first-year Lawyering program. Previously, he clerked for Judge Mary M. Schroeder on the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and practiced litigation for Robbins Geller Rudman & Dowd LLP, a plaintiff-side securities firm in San Diego.
Professor Pfeffer-Gillett received his J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law, where he was awarded the Thelen Marrin Prize for Law Journal Writing, served as Senior Articles Editor of the California Law Review, and directed the Workers’ Rights Disability Law Clinic. He also holds a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Virginia and a master's degree in public policy from Brown University.
Professor Pfeffer-Gillett is interested in the legal contours and practical implications of everyday employment and consumer contracts, particularly in the "gig economy" and technology sectors. His scholarship has appeared in the California Law Review and the Duke Law & Technology Review.
