Tamika Tremaglio ’95
Managing Principal, Deloitte, Greater Washington

As the Greater Washington Managing Principal for Big Four accounting firm Deloitte, Tamika Tremaglio ’95 oversees more than 13,000 audit, tax, advisory, consulting and enabling area professionals. It’s no wonder Washingtonian Magazine named her to its Most Powerful Women in Washington list.

Still, the St. Mary’s County, Maryland, native finds time to give back to her alma mater and is currently serving as vice chair on the Maryland Carey Law Board of Visitors.

“I had so many phenomenal life experiences in law school that got me to where I am,” says Tremaglio, remembering the indelible impact Maryland Carey Law faculty mentors and peers in the Black Law Students Association (BLSA) had on her. “I’m incredibly grateful.”

Coming from high school and undergraduate experiences that were both severely lacking in diversity, Tremaglio says arriving at Maryland Carey Law, with its diverse student body, was an “awakening.” Today, she is a strong advocate for diversity and inclusion, spearheading Deloitte’s Business of Kindness initiative and serving on the board of Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation.

She was also integral in bringing Deloitte on as a corporate partner in Maryland Carey Law’s Diversity and Inclusion Scholars Initiative, which provides financial and career development support to cohorts of high achieving students from underrepresented backgrounds.

Always tenacious, at a time when JD/MBA programs were rare, Tremaglio pursued an MBA alongside her full-time JD studies, earning both degrees in 1995. She appreciates how, in recent years, Maryland Carey Law has strengthened and expanded its Business Law Program, preparing students with her same passion for both the law and business.

“My law background,” says Tremaglio, “elevates my perspective and enables me to approach business issues in a more meaningful strategic way.”

UPDATE: In January 2022, Tremaglio became executive director of the National Basketball Players Association.
