You use your myUM ID and password to log into the UM campus Blackboard system. Your Blackboard username is the same username and password that your use to access SURFS and UMB Email.
What is Metadata? - Data that describes other data.
For example, the words in a document are data; the information used to identify the author is metadata, also known as Personally Identifiable Information.

Blackboard allows you to attach files when you send email, post to the Discussion Board, a Blog, Wiki, or Journal.
It is critical to name files properly before uploading to Blackboard. Keep the filename as short as possible and
do not use special characters!
The # sign is a special character, do not use it when naming your files.

Blackboard allows you to send email to all users in your course, to all groups, to different user roles, or to selected users or groups.
Your professor may add a Blog to any content area of a course.
Your professor may add a Wiki to any content area of a course. Please ignore the reference to the Tools area of a course in the following video and use the Wiki location provided by your professor.
