Event planning is a time-consuming process. There are many details that can make or break an event. We have an entire section in the Student Organization Manual dedicated to Student Event Planning. We hope to give you practical tools so your event will run smoothly. Please see the Student Organization Manual on Blackboard for the complete Student Event Planning section. (pages 5 – 13 and appendices C – E).
The Office of Student Affairs works with Mary Jo Rodney, Director of Special Event Services, to maintain a master calendar and schedule of all law school events. Contact the Office of Student Affairs to discuss potential dates for your event and to determine space availability. The events calendar at the law school is increasingly hectic, so for the best dates, plan your event early.
If your event includes a guest speaker or distinguished guest, you must send a notification email to the prior to advertising your event. It is critical that events with distinguished guests are planned far enough in advance so everyone can put it on their calendars. “Everyone” means deans, faculty, students and other members of the law school community. “Everyone” includes your guests as well. You need to give as much notice as possible to ensure there are no conflicts.
If you have already taken the preliminary steps, you may now proceed to the Student Event and Room Requests form.
