Mission Statement

The Maryland Law Service Corps is a pro bono legal immersion program with a mission to foster an ethic of public service in Maryland Law students through local service, fundraising, and travel placements at nonprofit and government organizations throughout the country who serve poor and underrepresented populations.

Introduction

The Maryland Law Service Corps (formerly the MD Law Katrina Project) is a 5 component pro bono legal immersion program that uses travel and various partnerships with public and pro bono organizations to help young attorneys build skills and an appreciation for public service. Our organization, one of the largest of its kind, organizes more than 90 Maryland Law students, faculty, and staff during winter and spring breaks to provide free legal work for the poor and underrepresented in needy communities throughout the gulf and Mideastern US. MLSC provides students with the opportunity to perform legal work in criminal and civil law, including health law and new this year, environmental law. We also have a rebuilding team that builds Habitat houses. Please explore the rest of our website for details about our trips, membership requirements, fundraising activities, and past accomplishments. Thank you for your interest in the Maryland Law Service Corps!
