The Maryland Carey Service Corps is a pro bono legal immersion program with a mission to foster an ethic of public service in UM Carey Law students through local service, fundraising, and travel placements at nonprofit and government organizations throughout the country who serve poor and underrepresented populations.
The Maryland Carey Service Corps (formerly the MLSC) is a 5 component pro bono legal immersion program that uses travel and various partnerships with public and pro bono organizations to help young attorneys build skills and an appreciation for public service. Our organization, one of the largest of its kind, organizes more than 90 UM Carey Law students, faculty, and staff during winter break to provide free legal work for the poor and underrepresented in needy communities throughout the Gulf. MCSC provides students with the opportunity to perform legal work in criminal, civil and health law. We also have a rebuilding team that builds houses with Habitat for Humanity.
