Legally Sound 2013-14 Roster

Sopranos - Beth Friedman, Christie Hill, Elise Henry, Sara Karlin
Altos - Natalie Nguyen, Joyce Yu
Tenors / Basses - Ben Garmoe, Geoffrey Heinzl, Eshawn Rawlley

Elise Henry has enjoyed singing in choirs her whole life and is excited to be singing with Legally Sound. She is originally from Miami, FL, and graduated from the University of Miami with a degree in Judaic studies. Before completing her degree, she lived in Tel Aviv, Israeli, for four years. She studied musicology at Tel Aviv University, where she took courses in harmony and composition. She hopes to find the time to arrange songs for the group, perhaps after her 1L year is over. While studying law is lots of fun for Elise, practicing and performing with Legally Sound adds a good measure of joy to her law school experience.
Christie Hill is a part of the Class of 2014 here at Maryland Law. She graduated from the University of Maryland in 2010 with a degree in finance. In high school, she was a member of the school's Madrigals singing group, where she first developed her love for a capella music. She also sang in the choir and was a part of several musicals and plays, both on stage and behind the scenes. When she's not harmonizing with Legally Sound or buried in law books, Christie loves spending time with friends and family and watching sports (Go Ravens!).
Geoffrey Heinzl is a third-year graduate student in the Pharmaceutical Sciences department. His research focuses on novel antivirulants for opportunistic pathogens. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA and graduated from Allegheny College, where he double-majored in chemistry and French. Geoffrey also serves as President of the Graduate Student Association.
Sara Karlin has been singing since she joined the Children's Chorus of Maryland at the age of 6. Since then, she has sung in high school choirs and taken private lessons in her hometown of Pikesville, Maryland. While attending the University of Maryland, College Park, she was a musical director of Maryland's premiere Jewish a capella group, Kol Sasson. As a first year dental student, she is excited to sing with Legally Sound. When Sara isn't singing or studying for dental school, she enjoys playing tennis, guitar, going to NYC and cheering on the Orioles and Ravens!
Eshawn Rawlley is a member of the Class of 2014. He graduated from The George Washington University in Washington, DC where he performed with GW Geet, a South Asian fusion a cappela group. His modest vocal talent was discovered when, after opting for spotlight duty in the middle school musical, he was persuaded by his drama teacher to accept a leading role in the show. He has since been ablaze with the fiery hot passion of music-making. In addition to singing, Eshawn is an avid guitarist with designs to eventually start a rock & roll band and tour all over the world, or the greater metropolitan area. For now, he is content with pursuing a law degree while keepin' it loose & tight with Legally Sound.
Joyce Yu grew up in Gaithersburg, MD and spent 2 years of undergrad at the University of Maryland, College Park. She is now a first-year student at University of Maryland School of Pharmacy in Baltimore and is so excited to be a part of Legally Sound! While this is her first time singing in an acapella group, music and singing have always been a big part of her life. When she is not busy discovering the drugs of the future, Joyce enjoys learning new songs on her guitar and playing the piano!
