On Sunday, November 27, 2011, members (and friends of members) of the LGBT Law Student Alliance volunteered at Moveable Feast. Moveable Feast is a local nonprofit organization that provides nutritious foods and other services in order to preserve quality of life for people with HIV/AIDS and other life-threatening conditions.
Together, we were able to assemble over 500 meals and package several hundred more. Chris, Moveable Feast's chef, told us that we did the work of three teams, which was especially helpful because many of Moveable Feast's regular volunteers were away for the holiday, meaning that they were behind on the number of meals they had ready to deliver (they typically deliver 7,000 meals a week!). See more information about Moveable Feast at http://www.mfeast.org/
Many thanks to everyone who was able to participate (picture below), and to Dean José for providing us with wonderful t-shirts that allowed us to represent for the School. We plan on having more volunteer activities next semester, so stay tuned!
