NAACP Election Protection

November 4

The NAACP is recruiting volunteers for Election Protection – the nation’s largest non-partisan voter protection program – on November 4, 2014.  After a brief training session, volunteer attorneys, paralegals and law students are needed to staff our 1-866-OUR-VOTE Hotline and/or assist with mobile field teams in order to help traditionally disenfranchised voters.

Please review the notice for more details and information on how to sign up for training sessions and volunteer slots.  Your valuable time and energy can help many eligible voters overcome the obstacles they encounter while exercising this fundamental right!

To volunteer, please call NAACP Assistant General Counsel Anson Asaka at (410) 580-5789 or email him at aasaka@naacpnet.org.   If interested, please contact Mr. Asaka as soon as possible.

Can Castle Competition

November 6

Annual Can Castle Competition benefiting the Maryland Food Bank

BLSA will be collecting canned goods beginning today until Thursday, November 6th @ 2:30 p.m.

There will be a container in front of the BLSA office for students to drop off their canned good items. On November 6th at 3:15 p.m. a few creative volunteers from BLSA will then bring the collected cans to the Comcast dinning area and construct a castle. Castles will be judged, and winners will be announced! The more cans we collect the better our chances of building an AWESOME can castle!!!

Please email Sadé at sadecnewson@gmail.com if you have a creative mind and would like to be apart of building the can castle for competition.
