Our collaborative and diverse community will challenge your ideas and draw upon your strengths. You will be instilled with the highest ideals of the legal profession and find welcome in our supportive alumni network.
The School of Law strives to provide its students with an ethical framework within which you will begin your professional career as broader members of the legal community. Key to this framework is the Honor Code. The Code, administered entirely by the student body, provides a fundamental fabric of self-governance for our entire community.
The law school is a nationally recognized leader in its commitment to diversity, among both the student and faculty population. Each year approximately 30 percent of our incoming students identify themselves as persons of color. Of our 58 full-time faculty members, half are women and 12 are persons of color.
A panoply of student organizations add to the law school's rich community sense. Students with similar backgrounds and experiences gather to encourage, mentor and build their own sense of community within 35 student-led organizations. In addition to providing co-curricular opportunities to enhance your legal abilities, these organizations also encompass politics, the arts, and recreation.
Almost 10,000 alumni worldwide are proud to call the School of Law their alma mater. Whether you're in Baltimore or Beijing, Washington or Warsaw, you're still part of the Maryland Law community. Our graduates are extraordinarily generous with their time and resources. Their support of the law school and our students includes service as guest lecturers in the classroom, participating as judge and jury in mock trials, hosting career development events, and volunteering their expertise as members of advisory groups.
