Maryland Connection Binding Quick Decision Program

How to Apply

Applicants who are Maryland residents or have attended a college or university in the state of Maryland, and are certain that the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law is their first-choice law school, may apply under our binding "Quick Decision" program.

Candidates applying to this program have two options:

  1. Submit a complete application to Maryland Carey Law, ready for review, by November 1, 2014 and receive an admission decision of Admit, Deny, or Wait-list by November 26, 2014; or
  2. Submit a complete application to Maryland Carey Law, ready for review, by January 12, 2015 and receive an admission decision of Admit, Deny, or Wait-list by January 19, 2015.

Candidates who wish to be considered under this program agree that they:

  • do not have an application pending through any other binding, early decision, or "quick decision" program.
  • will withdraw all applications submitted to other schools as soon as they have been notified of admission to Maryland Carey Law and will provide evidence of having done so.
  • will not initiate new applications after being admitted to Maryland Carey Law.
  • if admitted by November 26, 2014, will submit a non-refundable commitment deposit to Maryland Carey Law by December 12, 2014, or  if admitted by January 19, 2015, will submit a non-refundable commitment deposit to Maryland Carey Law by February 1, 2015.
  • if admitted, will enroll at Maryland Carey Law in August 2015.

"Quick Decision" candidates who are wait-listed are no longer bound by the "Quick Decision" rules and may, of course, remain in the applicant pools of other schools and submit new applications to additional schools.

As is the case for all applicants to Maryland Carey Law, candidates applying under the binding "Quick Decision" program will be considered for merit-based scholarships; "Quick Decision" applicants will be notified of any merit-based scholarship award at the same time an offer of admission is extended. Please be aware that all scholarship offers are final and non-negotiable.

In addition to submitting the regular application form and other required materials (e.g., the CAS Report and letters of recommendation), “Quick Decision” applicants must also submit via e-mail to admissions@law.umaryland either a:

  1. Quick Decision Agreement for November 1, 2014 deadline, or
  2. Quick Decision Agreement for January 12, 2015 deadline.
