Alumni Profile: Alexina Guiomar Jackson

Title:  Ethics and Compliance Counsel for The AES Corporation

Description of Position:  The AES Corporation is a values-driven global power company that owns and operates a diverse and growing portfolio of electricity generation and distribution business, which provide reliable, affordable energy to customers in 21 countries.  As Ethics and Compliance Counsel at AES’ global headquarters, Alexina works with an international team to ensure that the company and its employees act ethically and consistent with company values and law, and engage in business with companies making similar commitments to ethics and compliance.  The day-to-day work of Alexina’s position includes guiding investigations, due diligence, and training.

Benefits of the WLE Program:  The time I spent in the Women, Leadership & Equality Program was time well invested.  The course-work and experiential opportunities presented by the Program reinforce my confidence and ability to sculpt a career path that blends my legal knowledge with my international business background.  The Program contributes to my self-awareness and acceptance that parts of my career path may be challenging as I carve my own way, and it offers tools that enable me to productively encounter those challenges and effectively maneuver in the legal field to find career opportunities with a “good fit.”  With great reward, the Program also provides a valuable network of motivated lawyers and serves as a reminder to grow my own network of inspiring colleagues through co-mentoring and sponsorship; this alone has made my experience as a Program participant and Rose Zetzer Fellow invaluable.
