The LEAD Curriculum and Projects
LEAD's Three Components
- In the Lawyers as Leaders component, the Law School will collaborate with The James MacGregor Burns Academy of Leadership at the University of Maryland College Park, the bench and the practicing bar to create a new leadership development program and related materials for law students and practicing lawyers that examines the role of lawyers as community and civic leaders.
- In the Ethics and Professionalism component, the Law School will work with recognized academic experts, the bench and the practicing bar to develop course work, real-life case studies, and community outreach projects that will integrate issues of professional responsibility throughout the Law School's curriculum and provide students and practitioners the opportunity to examine the ethical and moral dimensions of the lawyer's role.
- In the Community Development and Democracy Building component, through clinical work in recovering communities on the Gulf Coast and abroad, we will work with community leaders to explore the role of lawyers in community renewal and democracy building.
