In December 2016, the Environmental Law Clinic released a new report: Maryland’s Critical Area Protection Program: Variances and Enforcement in Selected Jurisdictions from 2012 to 2014. Maryland’s Critical Area Protection Program is vital for protecting the health of the Chesapeake and Atlantic Coastal Bays. The Clinic analyzed variance decisions and enforcement in Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Kent, Queen Anne’s, St. Mary’s and Worcester Counties from 2012 to 2014. The report also includes a Land Use Land Cover Analysis and an interactive webmap developed by the Geographic Information System Program at Washington College. The Environmental Law Clinic prepared the report on behalf of Assateague Coastal Trust, Blue Water Baltimore, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, and the Chester River Association. The report does not represent the views of the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law.
