The Maryland Environmental Law Society presented a panel on Agriculture Law and policy on Tuesday, October 18. Focusing on animal welfare and agriculture, the panel featured Sarah Everhart, an adjunct professor and attorney with the University of Maryland Agriculture Law Education Initiative, as well as Michelle Pawliger, a farm animal policy associate at the Animal Welfare Institute. Professor Michael Pappas rounded out the panel.
The panelists covered topics including animal welfare regulations, "ag gag" laws, and humane certification labeling for food. This set the stage for a lively discussion with the audience, which included Maryland law students as well as members of the public.
