Environmental Students Attend Supreme Court Oral Argument

More than 20 students from three environmental law classes attended an oral argument at the U.S. Supreme Court in an important case involving efforts to encourage more efficient use of energy on October 14th. The case, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) v. Electric Power Supply Association, involves review of a FERC order encouraging utilities to implement demand-response programs to reduce consumption of electricity at peak hours.

The students were members of Professor Robert Percival’s Environmental Law class at the Maryland Carey Law; his Special Topics in Environmental Law course for undergraduates at the University of Maryland College Park; and Professor Joanna Goger’s Environmental Law course in the University of Maryland College Park’s Environmental Science and Policy Program.
