Environmental Law Externship Program - ME3 IN DC

Capitol

Welcome to the Maryland/ELI Environmental Experience in Washington, D.C., a partnership to promote experiential learning for Environmental Law students.

The ME3 in DC program brings together a unique combination of expertise and resources to provide students with an exceptional educational experience.

Maryland Carey Law’s Environmental Law Program has long operated one of the most extensive environmental externship programs, placing students with more than 40 different agencies, non-profit organizations, and trade associations.

At its offices in the heart of downtown Washington, D.C., The Environmental Law Institute (ELI) regularly hosts educational programs featuring top environmental officials and practitioners.

The ME3 in DC program permits students from any law school to gain valuable work experience in the center of national policy-making, while doing coursework and participating in an environmental practicum at ELI’s offices. Students will be able to experience how the environmental and energy laws operate in practice while learning from the key people who help draft, apply, and enforce them.

To learn more about the program or work on developing an externship experience, please contact William Piermattei (wpiermattei@law.umaryland.edu) or Julie Weisman (jweisman@clm.com).
